UNICEF continues cooperation in water supply of Donbass

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) intends to provide residents of the Donetsk region with quality drinking water, by extending the relationship with the Water Donbass CB by a memorandum.

The document between the organizations was signed by the head of the UNICEF Office in Ukraine Giovanna Barberis and the representative of the KP “Company” Water of Donbass “Alexander Evdokimov. The Memorandum presupposes the parties’ mutual relations for a period of five years, and the main task is to provide access to drinking water.

According to the employees of KP “Water of Donbass”, UNICEF will render invaluable support to the enterprise. Under the agreement, UNICEF will provide financial, technical and material support to improve the water supply and sanitation infrastructure. In turn, KP “Company” Water of Donbass “will provide a legal and regulatory framework for the implementation of agreed projects, timely installation and proper operation of equipment.

The United Nations Children’s Fund helps the company to provide the population of the region with clean water and waste disposal for more than two years. For example, UNICEF provided, during the period under review, pumping units, water treatment reagents and other materials necessary for the preparation and transportation of drinking water and wastewater treatment.
